A 27-year-old woman from Hyderabad was among the nine people killed in a shooting incident in Texas in the US. Aishwarya Thatikonda, the victim, was working in the US as a project manager.

Her Indian male friend was also injured and receiving treatment at McKinney Medical.

Aishwarya Thatikonda, who belonged to Saroornagar in Hyderabad, was working as a Project Manager at Perfect General Contractors Company. Her father Narsireddy is a judge in a district court.

The shooting incident happened on Saturday last week as throngs of shoppers filled the outdoor mall. Mauricio Garcia, the 33-year-old gunman, was shot dead by a police officer.

Aishwarya had spoken to her family members before the incident on Saturday, and when they called her back after learning about the shooting they did not get any response, according to the judge’s friend, news agency PTI reported.

“The family got the information (about her death) on Sunday. They are in shock. They have been told that efforts were being made to send her body by Wednesday,” the judge’s friend was quoted as saying by PTI.
