Shah Rukh Khan’s film Pathaan which was released on Wednesday, Jan 25th has earned a total of ₹57 crore on the first day of the release (Hindi and Telugu). Trade experts believe the film will only see an upward trend over the extended five-day weekend including Republic Day.
Pathaan has starrer Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, John Abraham and directed by Siddharth Anand.
The production house behind the film, Yash Raj Films, shared that the Hindi film has made a net collection of ₹55 crores and the dubbed versions earned an additional ₹2 crore, taking the total to ₹57 crore.
Akshaye Widhani, CEO of Yash Raj Films, said in a press statement, “It is a historic day for Indian cinema, and we are humbled to see the love and appreciation that is flowing for Pathaan globally. For Pathaan to shatter records in this fashion on a non-holiday, just proves that the theatrical business is here to stay, provided we make films that entice people to come to the cinemas to witness a never seen before experience that entertains them thoroughly.”
Pathaan has seen protests due to various calls to boycott its release including violence on release date.
